About this site
This is the community website for Shoalhaven Heads, a small village on the beautiful south coast of N.S.W, Australia. It is designed and maintained by Andy Turner, a local who believes 'The Heads' deserves it's own place on the web.
The term "honeymoon" is derived from the Babylonians who declared mead, a honey-flavored wine, the official wedding drink, stipulating that the bride's parents be required to keep the groom supplied with the drink for the month following the wedding.
JUNE 23 1822 - Alexander Berry noted in his diary "Shoalhaven Hill, Cullingatty" which was later to be known as "Mount Coolangatta" - meaning splendid view, fine view or good lookout.
