It’s has been a busy month on the site hasn’t it?

Recent changes include the addition of a Google search box on every page (at the top of the left sidebar). Why? Well, as I’ve said before, I’d really like as many locals as possible to make this website their homepage. It will help the site visitor statistics (which means the sponsors are happy) and the search engine rankings will be better too of course. If you already have Google available here - why bother making Google your homepage?

With Internet Explorer you can have more than one home page of course - so if you want to retain the one you have but add this one to another ‘tab’, simply go to this sites front page (Home) and click the wee down arrow beside the Home button on the browser toolbar. Then choose ‘Add or Change Home Page’ then select ‘Add this webpage to your homepage tabs’ Easy!

Apart from that, just a few minor ‘tidy-ups’ to improve the appearance (updated the ‘Share’ buttons, added similar articles with excerpts below articles AND incorporated a plugin to make the site viewable on PDAs and the iPhone.. phew!) Oh, and wrote a few more articles too.

Once again - please - Please - can anyone spare 15 minutes to write an article for the site? Absolutely ANY topic (well, maybe avoid religion and politics!) is fine with me. If you have a gardening tip, want to bring a local issue to our attention or just make a witty (or otherwise) observation on life - we’d all love to hear it. You can write under a nom-de-plume if you want to and stay completely anonymous.

Come on - it’s winter. Too cold to do much outside so sit down with a cuppa and get yourself published online. Either use the ‘RapidWriter’ page or drop me a message on the contact page and let me know what you want to do. I’ll even cut & paste it from an email you send me - couldn’t be simpler.
