I mentioned before in a previous article that I had some more photos taken during the 1988 flooding. Here’s the best of the shots including a couple of ‘panoramic’ ones taken on the beach and a series of very dramatic ones taken from the air. I don’t know who to credit for these photos, if the photographer would like to be credited, please contact me.
If you are in any of the photos, what about leaving some comments about what you remember of that day?
Not being in the area when the floods occurred and had heard many speak about it I was very interested in seeing your photographs. Thank you for your time and effort gathering this information. My curiosity is satisfied.
Thanks for the feedback and the kind words. Yes, I’d thought about shifting the weather up to the top as well. I might swap it with the ‘Did you know?’ area.
i like the site very good ,i like to roam around the site, the weather site could be up the top to the right or along the top as a bar

About this site
This is the community website for Shoalhaven Heads, a small village on the beautiful south coast of N.S.W, Australia. It is designed and maintained by Andy Turner, a local who believes 'The Heads' deserves it's own place on the web.
Captain Cook lost 41 of his crew to scurvy (a lack of vitamin C) on his first voyage to the South Pacific in 1768. By 1795 the importance of eating citrus was realized and lime juice was issued on all British Royal Navy ships. This is the origin of the word "limeys".
AUGUST 24 2003 - Severe wind storm with gusts up to 160km/hour buffeted the Shoalhaven causing millions of dollars in damage. In addition many trees came down across power lines causing blackouts lasting days in some instances. Emergency Services were stretched to the limit. Emergency power had to be supplied to hospitals and then to dairies so that the cows could be milked.
