During the month we lost one of our older members, Loy Craven. The members of the fishing club offer their heartfelt sympathy to Jack and his family. A nicer two people than Loy and Jack Craven do not exist and Loy will be be sadly missed by many friends in Shoalhaven Heads.
Sunday, 29th of March saw our March Weigh In happen. For the first time the food was catered for by the new “Longboard Bistro”. You can never please all the people all the time, however most where impressed with the feed we received and for $5 you won’t get better anywhere.

$5 bucks a head...Bargain!
Beautiful weather and conditions saw a good roll up with 14 fishermen and women wetting their lines. It was great to see some new faces and it is hoped that it leads to new members.

Rudi Bochdal's catch
A huge catch of 125 fish had our preso, Col Hokin smiling broadly and they weighed in at a hefty 50.94 kilo. A lot of fish food in anybody’s language.
Rod Grant made a comeback to the deep sea this weekend and he managed 8 fish weighing 2.425 kilo. He also grabbed himself an encouragement although Rod never needs much encouraging . Ruby Kent had her family along with grandson Duane Kent and his fiancee Melissa Griffiths and son Russell and his partner Donna McMahon. Russell caught a fish weighing in at 450grams.

Russell and Donna
Duncan caught one weighing 400 grams while Jim Webster had his family down for the weekend and his son in law Brett Smith pulled in 7 nice fish at 1.9 kilo. Brett’s dad Dave Smith stayed awake long enough to catch, beside a heap of Rock Cod, 4 good fish weighing 1.2 kilo. Jim himself, caught 5 fish at 2.3 Kilo however his son Wes caught 7 weighing 4.37 kilo including a 1.29 Morwong which gave him the heaviest fish and also deep sea runner up. Needless to say, he won’t be invited back.

- Brett Smith
Brett owns a very nice boat at it is hoped that he and his lovely wife Raelene and his dad Dave join up and become regulars at our weigh ins.

What the hell has John got on his head
John and Rhonda Crane also hit the big sea and they took out the daily double with the ladies and mens deep sea money. Rhonda caught 14 flathead at 4.24 kilo and John dragged up a massive 27 weighing 8.825kilo. A pretty good catch. John also appears to have caught something (left) and if anyone knows what’s on his head, let me know.
In the river Colleen Bochdal won the ladies estuary with 6 fish weighing 3.15 kilo and Rudi caught his usual haul with 21 fish weighing a whopping 10.5 kilo. Tom Ahling brought in 17 blackfish and some nice ones amongst them and they weighed 6.4 kilo. Murray Waetford caught 2 fish at 700 grams, but he also won an encouragement award.

new faces Rhonda and Dave Smith
Garry Tyquin won the Junior heaviest catch and mens beach and rock with 3 fish weighing 3.68 kilo and Jai Waetford caught 2 fish weighing 700 gramswon the Junior money. The mystery fish was a Bream with Jai and Colleen sharing the money in a dead heat.
Lisa Tyquin was unable to attend as she had to work but the boys were there and it’s good to see that Andrew has it sorted right. Someone has to do the fishing and Andrew and his boys take the brunt of that work load and of course someone has to earn a living and …well…that’s how it is.

The Tyquin Clan minus Lisa
So there you have it and once again everyone had a ball.
