Those close to Jack know him as a cranky, cantankerous, old bugger. Those who have been lucky enough to count him as a friend also know him to have a huge heart. A man that would always stand by his mate. A man who would do anything for anyone, and even for someone he didn’t particularly like, he would do what he could to help them out. Jack was a lovable rogue and always spoke his piece, whether he be right or wrong he would staunchly stand up for his belief. You didn’t argue with Jack because it didn’t matter how right you were…you were wrong, but you couldn’t help love him anyhow. I spent many hours alone on a boat with Jack, and you find so much to talk about and the one thing I really learned ( apart from how to catch fish) was that, even though he was not an outwardly affectionate man, he so adored his three girls..Marion, Sue and Debbie. Jack worked hard and played hard and he also loved his fishing , and, although he had threatened to give it away many times, when he got the shits over something or another, it was his passion and he would always fish. He taught me so much and I feel blessed to be someone who was able to spend time with him as a mate. Even though my wife, Patricia , and myself feel a deep pain in our hearts at the moment and we can’t begin to know the pain that Jack’s wife Marion is feeling. Jack is going to be sorely missed by a great many people and none near as much as Marion and our thoughts and love are truly with her.
