SHOALHAVEN HEADS SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB
FISHING CLUB : Fishing News December ‘08
On Sunday 30th Oct. Shoalhaven Heads Sports and Social/ Fishing Club held their October and Christmas Weigh In. The food was wonderful. Ham as good as you would ever taste and lovely greens, rice and garden salads prepared by the ladies of the club were delicious. As can be seen by John Crane (right) feeding his face. June Franks made a Rumbaba pudding which has now become famous in The Heads and anyone who tasted it will tell you it is sensational, so contact June and she will supply the recipe. As far as the fishing was concerned, it was a pretty good weekend with 95 fish being caught, weighing in at 44.94 kilo. Jim and Patricia Webster fished the river, however, halfway up the river they blew their motor up and had to row back. Everything wasn’t lost as Jim caught 2 fish for .340 kilo. They tried to get an oarsman award but could get no support. Same wasn’t so for Rudi and Colleen Bochdal. Rudi caught a 2.18 Jewfish which won him the heaviest fish. He caught 26 fish at 14.2 kilo winning him Mens Estuary and the heaviest catch.
Colleen caught 12 fish at 5.75 kilo and she won The Ladies Estuary. Tom and Mary Ahling also fished the river and between them caught 11 fish at 4.31 kilo. John (the tooth) and Rhonda Crane fished the river. John caught 8 fish at 7.45 kilo. He was Mens estuary runner up and Rhonda brought up the family double with 3 fish at 1.3 kilo which gave her ladies Estuary runner up.
Darren Roberts caught 1 fish for 1.5 kilo and Murray Wautford caught 3 fish for 1.5 kilo.
The Men’s deep sea was won by James Thomas with 6 fish at 2 kilo and runner was Jack Gazzard with 7 fish at 1.55 kilo. (left…Jack and James). Marion Gazzard won the Ladies Deep Sea. Jim Webster caught 5 fish at 1.44 kilo and managed the encouragement award.
Our up and coming Juniors, Johan Roberts caught 7 fish at 2.2 kilo, showing up his old man, to win the junior heaviest catch and Jai was runner up and he also won the biggest flathead.
Overall it was a great day and we look forward to our December weigh in.
