FEBRUARY ‘09 WEIGH IN

President Col Hokin
On Sunday 22nd of February we had our February Weigh In. It was a rather disappointing roll up and I suspect that the fact that the last Sunday of the month was on the 22nd caught a few off guard. Although only 9 people fished there was still 78 fish caught, weighing in at 27.89kilo, not a bad result , all considered. A few of the best was a 540 gram Bream caught by Rudi Bochdal, Jim Webster hooked a 460 gram Flathead but Colleen Bochdal topped the scales with a nice Flatty at 770 grams.

This months ace Colleen Bochdal
Rudi and Colleen hit the river with Rudi weighing in 21 fish at 7.450kilo and he won The Mens Estuary. Colleen caught 16 fish at 7.220kilo and she won The Ladies Estuary and the heaviest fish. Tom Ahling got 3 of his usual blackfish weighing 1.450kilo and Murray Waetford missed out this month. Maybe we all need some lessons from Colleen.

- Chef Paul Bounds
We ate really well with sausages, rissoles and a beautiful coleslaw. Rumour has it that chef Paul Bounds will be starting his own TV reality cooking show called “How The F….’s your sausages”.
Back to fishing and Rhonda and John Crane took on the big seas and Rhonda pulled in 11 fish weighing 3.55 kilo to win Ladies deep Sea and John took 22 fish at 6.20 kilo to win Mens Deep Sea while James Thomas snatched 2 fish at 800 grams.
Junior heaviest flathead went to Jai Waetford who caught 2 fish at 750 gram to also win Junior heaviest catch.

The lucky door prize of $50 went to Margaret Woodlands as did nearly everything else and the 2 encourage awards went to Murray Waetford and Jim Webster.
At our AGA last year our longtime lady member Rubie Kent was granted life membership and on Sunday she was presented with her life membership shirt.

Ruby who will be 90 year of age on the 9th Dec this year has been visiting The Heads since the 1950s and finally moved here with husband Ernie in 1988. She has been a member of the fishing club for 15 years and is a much loved Shoalhaven Heads identity.
Our Fishing Club dinner will be held on the 14th March and we usually have fine food and entertainment. We need more boats and more fisherman so join up and join in on the fun.
