A dog playing fetch in Germany found and delivered a live World War II hand grenade to its owner.

Local police in the western town of Erkrath reported that Sunday they were called by the dog’s owner who stopped while walking her pooch when she recognized the “rusty” object it was carrying was a weapon.

“She recognized immediately that it was probably an old, rusted hand grenade,” police said. “On the orders of the woman, the dog obediently put his find back next to the stream.”
