Just a small addition, but one designed to generate a bit more traffic (visitors!).

On any of the photo galleries you will now see a link that says ‘Send as e-card’.

You can use this to easily send a copy of a photo to a friend or relative.

I encourage you to use this as a quick and easy way to refer this website to others - it will be very much appreciated (and may mean the site will be here after the end of this year..)

Just a few changes made recently to let you know about.

Firstly, thanks to local photographer Pete Izzard for providing us with some fantastic shots to put into a new photo gallery.

Secondly, regulars will notice a little ‘NEW’ graphic beside articles they haven’t viewed yet - you should be seeing it to the left of this article title on the home page. Well, I spent a frustrating 4 hours today battling with a classifieds plugin to replace the (buggy) one we were using - yes, I’ve ditched that one too, sorry! That one developed amnesia occasionally and ‘lost’ the ads…

It showed a lot of promise but after attempting to edit test ads and finding that didn’t work, I then tried to place a new advert and that no longer worked either. So, in the end I gave up on that one as well.

I probably should have known better when I read through all the comments that are on the developer’s site from users who were struggling as I was. Many of them were listing patches and fixes they had made to his code so it worked for them! read more…

It’s has been a busy month on the site hasn’t it?

Recent changes include the addition of a Google search box on every page (at the top of the left sidebar). Why? Well, as I’ve said before, I’d really like as many locals as possible to make this website their homepage. It will help the site visitor statistics (which means the sponsors are happy) and the search engine rankings will be better too of course. If you already have Google available here - why bother making Google your homepage?

It’s been a busy month on the site as regulars would have noticed. I decided I needed to devote a good day a week (between phone calls, emails and other work) to adding content and improving the site.

Recent changes include improvements to the ‘Recent’ and ‘Latest’ articles area with thumbnails of the article images, tidying the Classifieds block and adding the news feed ticker to keep us all up to date with breaking news. read more…
