The April “Weigh In” was held on Sunday 26th April in the Jerry Bailey Room. For the most part the weekend was a disaster. It was blowing a gale and the seas were to big for anyone to venture outside, therefore there were no deepsea fishermen.

However we did have a few hardy souls attack the river. There was a total of 20 fish caught at a weight of 8.03kilo.

As usual, Rudi Bochdal topped the count with 13 fish at 5.3kilo winning him Estuary and the heaviest catch. His wife Collen hooked 2 fish at .650grams and she took out the ladies estuary.

Tom Ahling only caught 2 blackfish but they where beauties and he had the heaviest fish with a nice 760gram blackfish. The other wasn’t much smaller at 710 grams.

Jonah Roberts  showed his old man, Darren, up with a leatherjacket which gave him junior heaviest catch and dad caught nothing.Well done Jonah but that might not be a good move, beating dad.

Murray Waetford managed a couple of fish at 400 grams, but he finished ok with the encouragement award.

Jim Webster had a lash and caught the bank on the opposite side of the river to the Wharf Road boat ramp. He broke down”again” and the wind was too strong to control it. The tide went out and he was stranded on the sand. Thank goodness for the “Bochdal Estuary Rescue Service”. He would to thank Rudi and Colleen for there help. Anyone want to buy a boat, you’ll only need a penny.

I would also like to say a big Shoalhaven Heads “HULLO” to our regular readers in Austria. Maybe one day you can come to Australia and show us all how to fish.

Anyway, the mystery fish was a groper and it was not won. There where no deepsea results and it is to be hoped there are no more weekends like the last one.

The next Weigh In will be on Sunday 31st May.Hope to see you all there.

looking forward to your reaction, greets to everyone, Niek Grandiek.
